TAFESA Short Course: Professional Translating Skills

Applications are open for this face-to-face short course to be held at the TAFESA Adelaide City Campus. An information session will also be held on 7 March 2018.

This course is designed to highlight translation as a skill and professional career.

It will be of interest to anyone interested in the field of translation and languages, as well as language students and practicing translators who are looking for a refresher course.

NAATI certified translators can claim 60 PD points (Category 1.1).

Course Content and Format

  • Delivered in English but all languages welcome
  • Tutorial format with opportunity for open discussion
  • Today’s translating working environment
  • Good practice in translation and writing
  • Translation techniques / solutions to linguistic and cultural difficulties
  • Ethical approaches to translation dilemmas
  • Course delivered in English but participants will have the opportunity to practice translations in their languages and receive feedback on a sample of their work

Dates:
Wed, 4 April to 6 June 2018.
          7 weeks, delivered over 9 weeks

Hours: Classes will be held once per week on Wednesday from 1-4pm

Cost: $600 (No concessions available)

Location: 120 Currie St, Adelaide. Classroom to be advised
