Fundamentals for Interpreters in the Northern Territory

Thursday 22nd to Saturday 24th November 2018

Dear Firstname

The course is intended for beginners aiming to gain insight into the interpreting profession and for practising interpreters who would like to update or develop their knowledge and skills. The course will introduce participants to interpreting skills, dialogue interpreting, sight translation, and simultaneous and chuchotage interpreting.

The course is non-language-specific, preferably with more than one participant from the same language group.

All the skills required in interpreting will be demonstrated and practised, including: listening, comprehension, analysis, short-term memory, conversion and delivery. A variety of material will be used, relating primarily to typical community interpreting settings.

AUSIT would like to acknowledge the sponsorship support provided by NAATI and Interpreting & Translating Service NT, Department of Housing & Community Development.
