ACT190519 : Subtitle Translation

Sunday 19 May 2019    10:00 am - 12:30 pm (AEST)

Have you ever wonder how are subtitles made? What are the constraints and rules in subtitle translation? You may have already know that subtitle translation has different requirements from other types of translation. This PD event will show you the rules and constraints in subtitling using real cases.

Our speaker will also look into the production of videos and the translator's role as a language and culture expert in video production. How are translated texts incorporated into videos? What is expected from translators when working on video subtitling? How do translators and producers collaborate in making subtitled videos that are easy to read and culturally appropriate?

Please contact Alison Muir if you have any questions.

Ying Fan has over 10 years experience in subtitling, video producing and working with translators to share with you insights of the craft and answer your questions.

Registration Fees: AUSIT Members $35 : AUSIT Student Members $15 : NZSTI & ASLIA Members $35 : Non-members $70
