NDIS for Interpreters
Saturday 14 September 2019 09:00 am - 1:00 pm (AEST)
This session is presented by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and AMPARO Advocacy. This is an approved AUSIT professional development workshop.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a once-in-a-generation social and economic reform to improve the participation of people with significant and permanent disability. Interpreters are often booked on the phone and on site to assist at different stages of a participant’s involvement with NDIS.
This workshop for interpreters and translators will provide an overview of what you need to know in order to best support participants of the NDIS.
Topics covered include:
• about the NDIS process and how the Scheme operates,
• NDIS and disability specific terminology,
• where to find resources to support you in interpreting on NDIS-related topics,
• and an overview of disability in the Australian context.
Parking and access Accessibility requests can be made at the time of booking.
This venue has limited disability parking. To plan your journey via public transport please visit Translink Journey planner https://jp.translink.com.au/plan-your-journey
