AUSIT Spanish Division: Improving Accuracy and Fluency in English to Spanish Translation and Revision

This interactive session will address the complexities of translating and revising from English into Spanish, two processes that require precision and a deep understanding of linguistic nuances.

During this 90-minute workshop, participants will actively engage in identifying and analysing the most common issues that can arise in English to Spanish translation, focusing on pragmatic, stylistic, grammatical, and syntactic issues.

The session will also include practical activities and active discussion among participants to identify and address these problems during the revision stage—both in our own translations and when reviewing a colleague’s work.

By adhering to the highest standards used by international organisations, applying problem-solving translation strategies, and reducing the interference of English structures, the aim is to improve the accuracy and fluency of translations, ensuring they reflect the natural, idiomatic quality of the Spanish language.

This workshop will be conducted mainly in Spanish.
