About

Joe is a registered teacher who retired after 41 years of service teaching mainly French and drama, and now concentrates more fully on translating from Dutch and French into English. He has served as Secretary of the Australian Federation of Modern Language Teachers Association (AFMLTA) and President of the Modern Language Teachers Association of South Australia, and has been awarded the CEASA ‘Teach the Teacher’ Award and a Certificate of Merit from AFMLTA for service to the profession.

Joe has been NAATI accredited since 1999 and a member of AUSIT since 2000, and is currently Chair of the SA/NT Branch. He is keen to improve the lot of interpreters in SA and enhance the status of the profession. In his spare time he does some consultancy work for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) Board in SA, volunteer teaches U3A French, plays badminton, goes bike riding, translates whenever possible, and has a volunteer administrative role in Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis (AMORC), a philosophical organisation, covering the English-speaking membership in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Purpose and function of this information submission form.

This form enables you to report issues or problems that you encounter in the course of court interpreting assignments. These issues and problems will be collected by AUSIT to report to the JCCD (the Judicial Council on Cultural Diversity) to monitor the implementation of the Recommended National Standards. The reporting of these issues and problems enables AUSIT to work with the JCCD to suggest steps to address these issues and to avoid the repetition of these problems in the future.
