Jess Shepherd

Position:VIC Branch-appointed Director

About

Born and raised in Melbourne, Jess holds a Bachelor of Arts (Global) majoring in international studies and philosophy, a Diploma in Languages (French) and a Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies (French), all from Monash University. Thanks to the Nicholas Baudin Travel Grant from the Embassy of France in Australia, she completed an internship in Paris with ISIT and Intéraires Intercultutrels.

Jess has been a NAATI-certified translator (French into English) since 2020, and has extensive experience in translation project management, quality assurance and technology. She has supervised several internships for MITS students from both Monash University and the University of Melbourne, and is passionate about helping students bridge the gap between finishing tertiary education and entering the profession.

Committed to supporting the translation and interpreting profession, Jess volunteers with AUSIT and Translators Without Borders. She has previously served as the Professional Development Coordinator for AUSIT Victoria and on the Organising Committee for the AUSIT National Conference 2024, held in Melbourne.

Outside of translation, she enjoys iced almond lattes, reading, travelling, and spending time with her beloved furbaby, Zeke, a 35kg Shepsky (Siberian Husky x German Shepherd) who’s convinced he’s a lapdog.
