Michela Schirru

About

Michela studied interpreting and translation at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, Germany and later completed a Master of Arts in Communication Studies degree at the University of South Australia. She is a certified Italian–English and German–English translator and interpreter, as well as a NAATI examiner.

Michela worked as a T&I professional in Europe and Australia for 15 years before transitioning into advisory roles for several state and federal members of parliament.

Across both careers, she has developed a strong understanding of the power of language and effective communication. She looks forward to contributing her experience to support AUSIT’s work and the broader T&I profession.

Purpose and function of this information submission form.

This form enables you to report issues or problems that you encounter in the course of court interpreting assignments. These issues and problems will be collected by AUSIT to report to the JCCD (the Judicial Council on Cultural Diversity) to monitor the implementation of the Recommended National Standards. The reporting of these issues and problems enables AUSIT to work with the JCCD to suggest steps to address these issues and to avoid the repetition of these problems in the future.
