AUSIT–FECCA Community Translation Guidelines
The Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators (AUSIT) and the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) have jointly produced this comprehensive set of guidelines for organisations engaging in translation of community communications for the benefit of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities in Australia.
The guidelines consist of three documents:
- Recommended Protocols for the Translation of Community Communications
The Recommended Protocols have been developed to assist all organisations involved in the commissioning of translations of information or materials for the benefit of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities in Australia.
Revision Guidelines and Parameters for Community Translations
The focus of the Revision Guidelines and Parameters is on translation revision (comparison of a draft translation with its corresponding source document) undertaken by a third party, in order to identify language and translation errors, and provide feedback in terms of translation appropriateness for the purpose outlined by the commissioner of the translation.
- Guidelines for Community Review Panels
These Guidelines are intended for community members who are engaged in providing advice and feedback on (translated) public messages aimed at CALD communities in Australia.
This project was funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care.
