Obtaining NAATI certification or recognition is an important milestone, but what comes next? How do you transition from certification to a thriving career as a practising translator or interpreter? This dynamic panel discussion is designed to bridge that gap by offering practical advice, shared experiences, and actionable insights from both seasoned professionals and newer practitioners in the T/I field. Topics covered include:
The types of T/I work they engage in and their career duration.
Their path into the T/I profession and early career challenges.
Key learnings and insights they wish they had known when starting out.
How their practices have evolved over time, including exploring niche markets or specialising in certain areas.
After the panel presentations, there will be a dedicated Q&A session where both in-person and remote participants can engage with the panellists, ask questions, and discuss any related topics.
This webinar is ideal for both aspiring and practising translators and interpreters looking to deepen their understanding of the profession and develop tools to advance their career.
Don’t miss this chance to gain practical knowledge that can help you navigate your T/I career!

Thomas McConochie, translator Mandarin > English
George Shaw, translator Russian > English, formerly interpreter Russian English

Purpose and function of this information submission form.
This form enables you to report issues or problems that you encounter in the course of court interpreting assignments. These issues and problems will be collected by AUSIT to report to the JCCD (the Judicial Council on Cultural Diversity) to monitor the implementation of the Recommended National Standards. The reporting of these issues and problems enables AUSIT to work with the JCCD to suggest steps to address these issues and to avoid the repetition of these problems in the future.
