AUSIT Webinar | 20200613 Translation Theories 1

This interactive seminar is the first in a series of three exploring theories of translation. The series takes a chronological approach and in this first seminar, we will discuss the historical origins of theory in different geographical and cultural contexts and how these have informed and influenced current perspectives. We will also critically examine early and later linguistic theories of translation equivalence as a means of understanding source text/target text correspondence. Discussions will focus on understanding the theories presented, the purpose of theory and how it relates to practice.
