Description

Interpreting and translation involve managing professional relationships, and require fast situational judgement and sound professional decision making skills. This webinar will provide interpreters and translators with a framework for reflecting on ethical and other professional practice challenges. In the webinar, we will analyse professional practice challenges using the Demand-Control Schema framework, explore the goal-based (teleological) approach to ethics and professional decision making models. Participants will apply the ethical decision-making framework to authentic interpreting and translation scenarios. Speaker: Anna Kenny is a Professional Development Coordinator with NSW Health Care Interpreter Services. She develops and facilitates education and training programs for healthcare interpreters across NSW, and teaches a multilingual interpreting class at Macquarie University. She completed a Master’s Degree in Interpreting and Translation Pedagogy at Macquarie University.
